The Power of Pentecost
The following is a foreword from David Yonggi Cho, Pastor of Yoido Full Gospel Church in Seoul, South Korea. (Questions and Answers about the Holy Spirit.) The Church is like a sailboat floating on a calm sea. Unless the wind blows, the sailboat will not move. When the Holy Spirit comes, then the Church starts to move. When the wind of the Spirit does not blow, the Church cannot move. The revival for the last days is the revival of the Holy Spirit.
It is not by might, nor by power but by the Spirit of God. To minister for Christ, one should be full of the Holy Spirit.(John 7:38-39)
On the Day of Pentecost, by the Power of the Holy Spirit, the powerless disciples became spiritual and became determined witnesses to the whole world.
When we are born again, we have the Holy Spirit; but when we are baptized in the Holy Spirit, then we receive a new dimension of power in our lives.(Acts 8:14-17) We have new fellowship with the Holy Spirit. We should have the baptism in the Holy Spirit according to the Bible.
Many people go ahead of the Holy Spirit. Jesus said that He only did what the Father showed Him to do. We must not go ahead of the Holy Spirit. He is in the active role, and we are in the receptive role. We can change our world through His power.
You are God’s precious vessel and He wants to use you for His glorious purposes.
Pastor Cho, founded and led the Yoido Full Gospel Church of over 800,000 believers in Seoul, South Korea until recently. He has experienced the Power of Pentecost in His life and church. This church has grown to almost unbelievable proportions because of their desire to pray and seek the face of God. When they began to go after Him God poured out His Spirit upon them to be witnesses. They are the model for the New Testament church of Acts. The church was added to daily.
Pentecost did not come to impress the world with knowledge and intellectualism but to demonstrate to the world that God’s love and power would be evident in His disciples. The Apostle Paul stated that he did not come with persuasive words of human wisdom but in demonstration of the Spirit and of the Power (I Cor. 2:4) Jesus and the Father went to a lot of trouble to make promises and break them if They didn’t think we needed extra help to carry on the works of Christ Jesus.
The world is looking for applied Christianity. Theology without practicality in application is just theory. People need more than theory. They need demonstration and real answers. The Holy Spirit has come to us who believe. His Word tells us that signs and wonders will follow them that believe. Not only would He be with us but would now live in us! Come to Jesus and get filled!
Seek hard after the Giver of the Holy Spirit and let Him fill you and then baptize you with His precious power. What a gift to give to His disciples on the birthday of the church! He is rewarder to those who seek Him with diligence. Let’s go for Him, Church!Happy Pentecost Day!!
